Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson was a good man that was having to deal with the mistakes of others. Everyone always made him out to be the bad guy. President Thomas Jefferson was actually the one who made the deal with the Georgians to get rid of the Cherokee so that Georgia did not expand too far westward. Andrew Jackson was just having to live with Jefferson's mistakes. He didn't like the Cherokee being such a problem, but he didn't hate them.
If he had hated them he would have just tlod the Georgians to go ahead and kill the Cherokee. The Georgians had already wanted the Cherokee off their land for several reasons. One reason was is that the Georgians wanted to grow cotton, and they couldn't with the Cherokee there. Large plantations needed slaves to do the labor. Missionaries were also coming to tell the Cherokee about christianity. This included telling them that slavery was vile. The Georgians did not like the missionaries being there because they were a strong slave society.
